I want to let all of our great customers know that after much deliberation, we have decided it is time for us to close commuknity and move on to other endeavors.
Owning commuknity has been a highpoint for both Tom and me. We have made good friends over the past four years and consider ourselves blessed to have been a part of the Bay Area family of knitters. It has been a pleasure serving the knitting community through owning a store of which we are immensely proud.
The economy and changing preferences of consumers have encouraged us to make this very difficult decision at this time. Please know that we will miss the opportunity to offer you a great place to knit and a wonderful selection of knitting products.
Our space on The Alameda will be available for rental starting next month. You can get some information at http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/off/961451099.html if you or someone you know may be interested.
Our "Going Out of Business Sale" will start right after Christmas. We will have everything in the store at 30% discount. Come early for best selection.
The shop will be open on Friday, December 26 and Saturday, December 27 from 10am to 6pm. Sunday, we will be open noon to 5pm.
May you continue to enjoy the craft and find ways to encourage others to do the same!
Warm regards,
Gail and Tom
So very sorry to hear that you have decided to close. I live too far from you to have been a regular, but any time I was in San Jose, I came by. Best of luck to you.

This makes me incredibly sad. Commuknity was the first store I walked into that felt like home. This is gonna leave a big, yarn shaped hole in my heart. Good luck, Tom and Gail!

I am so sad to hear this, you were one of my favorite shops even though I live in Monterey. The women in my family have gathered here annually when we're together in the Bay Area - you know that you will be missed by knitters all over the state!

I am so saddened by this since I recently "discovered" you last year when my daughter first started attending San Jose State. What excuse will I have now to visit my daughter?:) Seriously, I just loved your friendly shop with all its fine yarn, books, and accessories...I do hope to visit one last time after the holidays depending how long you stay open.
Good luck to you in your next endeavor...
