We have a new "shopping by appointment" service on Tuesdays at the shop. Call at least one day in advance and we will reserve one hour exclusively for you (and your friends) to shop at the store. More Spooky Hats!

On Sunday we got two more entries for the Halloween Hat Contest -- Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein. These hats are pretty much adorable. What I really like about these monsters is that they are so muppet-like. If they weren't so scary they might even be huggable! 

If you are planning to enter an original design to the Halloween Hat Contest, please bring in your hat (with pattern) by October 29nd. If you aren't planning to enter don't forget to stop by the shop and vote for your favorite hat.

October Third Saturday Demo

Jan will be making some Halloween jewelry, perfect for those end-of-the-month parties. Stop by the shop on Saturday, October 18th to learn how to create your own little masterpieces!

There is a great select of spooky beads and pendants, including skulls, bugs, and pumpkins, plus glow in the dark beads. Boo!

Lorna's Wool Needle Felting Kits -- Too Cute!

We just got in the *cutest* little needle felting kits by Lorna's Wool! The pigs (pictured here) are my favorites; the kit includes brown fleece to make a third pig.

We have sheep, song birds, and Santa and his helper Elf kits, too. If you see them, you will fall in love! The kits include everything you need to make the items pictured on the front of the "egg carton" -- even the needles.

Spider Web Hat

This adorably creepy, crawly little guy is the first entry into the Halloween Hat Contest.  I think this hat is just darling.  From its cloche-like shape and tuliping brim it is adorable.  And the spider adds the perfect amount of quirky flair for a Halloween Hat that is fun without being over-the-top. 

I can't wait to see what other kinds of spooky, creepy, crawly, witchy and wild hats fly through the doors in the next couple of weeks. 

If you are planning to enter the contest, hats (with a written pattern) are due by Wednesday the 22nd of October.  And even if you don't plan on entering an original creation we hope you'll stop by the shop between the 22nd and 31st of October and vote for your favorite hat!

Leigh Radford, author of Alterknits and One Skein, will be in the shop Saturday, November 29 to teach felting workshops and sign her newest book Alterknits Felt.

Leigh will be teaching 2 fantastic workshops exploring color and felting. We hope you'll join us!

Shibori Felting Workshop - Learn how to apply time-honored Shibori techniques to create dimension and texture to your knitting. Shibori is a Japanese term used to describe shape-resist techniques traditionally used to dye fabric. Felting will be done in class. One session, Saturday, November 29, 2008.
