After a couple of months, and a few other projects in between, I am done with my bouquet of poppies. Once again I am using a Noni pattern (Bouquet of Shirley Poppies). I enjoyed making these poppies a lot. Each flower took about 5 hours to knit (not counting felting time). This is a great project to experiment or use many colors. And these flowers would be great in your home or as gifts for any occasion.
I used Cascade 220, one skein will yield 3 complete flowers. One skein of green was enough for at least 18 stems. Crystal Palace Fizz was used for the stamens.
After felting, I dried the flowers with piece of yarn tied snugly around the petals (like an unopened flower). That way when the flowers dry, the petals are even more ruffled. Once flowers are completely dried, pass an 18-gauge florist wire through the stems. Arrange in your favorite vase and enjoy!
